Delta Life Skills Summer Program Application Process

When should I apply?​

The application process for the Delta Life Skills Summer Program opens in January or February each year, and late applications (post-Annual General Meeting) are accepted until March. You can find this year’s opening dates on our Events page or, if you subscribe to our mailing list, we’ll notify you when the application process opens.

How to Apply

Step One: Complete the three application forms below:

The information in the forms helps us better understand the needs and personality of your child to ensure that they receive the support they need. If it’s your first time in the program, please be as thorough as possible and attach supporting reports or documents, if available. (We want to know the good and the bad.) If your child is a returning participant, the information in the forms will update us with any medical or behavioural changes, or skills development.

If you are fundraising and would prefer to pay the balance of fees not earned with your credit card rather than a post-dated cheque, please complete a credit card authorization form:

Step Two: Submit your application at the February AGM

Bring your completed forms to our February Annual General Meeting (AGM) where you will have an opportunity to meet the Program Director, learn about the fundraising process, ask questions about the program, and submit your application. Attendance at the AGM by one parent or caregiver is mandatory – if you do not attend, your application will move down the priority list.

Step Three: Your application will be reviewed

Once your complete application is received, the Program Director will review it to determine eligibility and proper placement based on a range of factors, such as your child’s age and abilities.

Returning participants from Delta will be notified within a few weeks of the AGM if their application is successful. All other applicants will be prioritized as outlined below.

All applicants will be notified whether their application is successful by April 30th.

How are applications prioritized?

The first mandate of the Delta Life Skills Society is to help special needs children in Delta. We have room for 35 to 50 children in the summer program. If space is available once Delta families have been accommodated, we will accept families from outside Delta.

Returning participants from Delta who have completed their fundraising for the previous year take priority. Next in line are new applicants from Delta. If room permits, we will then accept returning families from outside Delta (who have completed their fundraising), followed by new non-Delta applicants.
