Our Board

The Delta Life Skills Summer Program is run by a dedicated and hardworking volunteer Board.

She also work in the childcare industry for more than a decade, primarily within Delta. Currently, she is working with the City of Delta teaching preschoolers and other various registered programs. As an Early Childhood Educator and a mother, Carey understands the need for all children to have a space and environment that is safe and fun, all the while, developing skills at their own accord and abilities.

Community is important to Carey. When she is not working, you will most likely find her at one of the local baseball fields cheering on her three children. Carey is a standing executive member of the North Delta Baseball Association, helping to create a fun and safe place for children of all ages to learn and develop in a game they love. Her roles over the last 8 years have included Concession Manager, Secretary, Safety Officer, and Registrar.

Carey is excited to apply her knowledge, dedication to community, and passion for child development to her role as Program Director with Delta Life Skills Society.

Harj Randhawa -Director

I work full time as a project coordinator in healthcare.   My favourite vacation spot is Italy because I love Italian food.  I live with my husband, two kids (boy and girl) and a dog, in the lower mainland.  I was born in India and moved to Canada when I was 13.  Our family loves to travel and enjoy spending time outdoors.  In my free time I like to work-out at the gym, gardening and watching movies with my family.  I am a parent of 9-year-old twins with Autism so I’m very busy with running their medical appointments and organizing social activities. Having special needs’ kids of my own, I have developed a passion for helping local communities who support special needs kids.  I personally believe that having the right environment and supports, children have a great potential and with the right support, they will have a happy and fulfilling life.

Sheryl Gray – Director

Sheryl, North Delta resident since 2005, and mom to Summer Fun participant Nick, who will be in his sixth year this summer! I choose to support DLS by volunteering because sustaining this program is so important for our kids to have fun in a low-pressure environment with supportive staff and peers. Without parent support, programs like Summer Fun simply don’t exist on a long-term basis. I also volunteer in our community by coordinating adaptive sports programs for kids with disabilities, and I use my former career as a recreation therapist and volunteer coordinator, along with my experience as “mom,” as my knowledge base. I’m now in communications/writing as my “day job” and am also the family shuttle driver for our three very active kids!

Susanne Szabo – Director

Susanne joined the Board in 2022, wanting to help ensure the continued success of the Summer Fun Program. Susanne and her husband have two children, the youngest of whom attends Summer Fun. The benefits of a child with disabilities staying on a regular routine are innumerable, and Ellie thrives with all the activities, and socializing. Susanne owns a small pie company, which jointly supports the Foundation for Prader-Willi Research, as well as Delta Life Skills Society. She has been involved in fundraising for FPWR Canada since 2011 and hopes to share some of her experience in raising money for DLSS.
